Gilead scientists are also exploring compounds that show therapeutic potential in fields with significant need that are outside the core areas of our current research focus. In late 2006, Gilead submitted an investigational new drug application to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for GS 9219, a nucleotide analogue that may be effective in combating certain blood cancers. We presented preclinical data about this experimental compound at the Annual Meeting of the American Association for Cancer Research in April 2007 and plan to initiate a Phase I study in patients with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and chronic lymphocytic leukemia in late 2007. |
